Jerry's giant scale Taube enters the sky

NAAS mmeber Jerry Heron finished his scratch-built, giant scale Taube and successfully maidened it.

Wingspan is 4.5m, power is delivered by a DLE 120cc. The build time was about 10 months.

Yes, it can hover!

MAAA Nationals in West Wyalong

The MAAA Nationals were held from 24 April to 1 May 2019 at West Wyalong, NSW. Beate, Marius and Peter participated in the IMAC competition, one of many events held. Although it was dusty, windy and turned cold it was fantastic!

NAAS Club Member David Barwick obtains Gold Wings

On April 20, 2019, David Barwick successfully passed his MAAA Gold Wings Test (Fixed Wing, Power). Congratulations, David!

AGM held on March 13, 2019

The club held an annual general meeting (AGM) on March 13, 2019. The main agenda item was to determine a new committee. Despite NAAS being a small club, enough nominations came in to fill all (nine) committee positions. See the committee page for the results.

Visit to Bega District Model Club

The friendly folks of the Bega District Model Club at Froggs Hollow invited us (Beate, Peter and Marius) to their annual Christmas BBQ. This was a family event and, obviously, many hands contributed to its success. Everyone enjoyed the homemade food while chatting about flying, planes, and everything else.

The field and facilities are excellent, and we were given ample opportunity to join in for some flying fun. Special thanks to Wes for the heavy-model certification of our new Extreme Flight Laser 91.

It can’t be any better! Many thanks for having us.

Work Experience at Merimbula Airport

NAAS member Marius B successfully completed a work experience week with Merimbula Aircraft Maintenance. In a sense, this was a step up from the model airplanes Marius puts together throughout the year. He was somewhat surprised to learn that, at times, these full-size planes are much more fiddly than model airplanes!

A big thanks to Rex, the owner, for hosting Marius so excellently and giving him a gentle introduction into the wonderful world of work.
